Process records a collaboration between visual artist Bill Botzow and theoretical physicist Frank Peseckis exploring change and complexity. It comprises images and notes from a series of work sessions held from April through December 1996. Part of the intent of presenting various stages of the collaboration is to provide a pathway into the participants' particular methods and motivations, perhaps also serving as a window onto the general character of the dynamics of collaborative work. A brief note about the time it takes to download these pages: most of these sessions contain a dozen or more images. We have kept the image file sizes on each session page as small as possible, while still remaining faithful to the appearance of the much larger digital originals, in order to minimize the time it takes to download them. This has been at the expense of some smaller details, and of absolute correspondence with some colors in the originals. For those who wish to see these details, we have also linked a number of these session page images to much larger versions that, while still compressed, are nearly identical in detail and color to the images Botzow and Peseckis worked with directly. Nonetheless, the main pages of each session with its smaller link images range in size roughly from just under 150k to well over 300k, and should take from 2 to 6 minutes to download with a 28800 modem connection. The images will however download in sequence with the text arriving first, so you can get started reading and viewing while waiting the few minutes for the download to finish completely. |
