An installation for Riverworks 5, Hoosic River Watershed Annual Riverfest, Pownal, VT, May 1996

Shoot was suspended from the limb of a tall cottonwood tree near the bank of the Hoosic River. The sculpture was constructed of red osier dogwood shoots strung on steel cable. The shoots were gathered in late winter and early spring when they are at their most colorful. By gathering and massing a common shrub, Shoot celebrated little noticed natural materials found in the local environment.
