An installation for the Eleventh Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, Fuller Art Museum, Brockton, MA, for Environmental Arts, Inc., July - October, 1997

Creature was suspended from the limb of an oak tree between water, earth and sky. The sculpture appeared skeletal and moved slowly in the air currents.
Lengths of maple saplings were collected, scraped, sorted and cut into a variety of lengths and diameters. These segments were then drilled and strung on 1/8" steel cable and transported to Brockton. Adjustments to the length and design of the sculpture were made on site. A pulley was slung over the chosen branch and made fast out of viewers' reach. The sculpture was hoisted into place and tied off to the same spot as the pulley.
